To the disappointment of most, and in line with our predictions (phew), Apple didn’t release an iPhone 5, but yeah, the new iPhone 4S is eye-popping as well.
Here is our take on the new jaw-dropping features of 4S that will justify its price for an upgrade. But if you do not want to shell out $200 for iPhone 4S, you can ‘buy’ a iPhone 3GS for $0, with a 2-year contract with a carrier.
1. Command your iPhone using Siri
‘Siri’ is your personal assistant that resides in the iPhone 4S, only. It’s not available in the iOS 5 upgrade. It lets you control your device using only your voice, not a new concept, but Siri takes voice control to a whole new level, where it can interpret almost all of your instructions & turn them into actions.
No, you do not need to speak in a robotic, simple manner, just speak as you would and Siri will get you. It can read you messages, help get directions and locations, set alarm, you can dictate your notes or messages or schedule an appointment (& even verify that it doesn’t clash with another event).
I would personally love to watch Siri take down my Chemistry class-notes during the lecture, while I enjoy a Bournville under the desk. :p However, the interface is quite dull & disappointing.
2. More power with new processor
Apple’s impressive A5 Dual Core processor powers the iPhone 4S, just as the iPad 2. Claimed to be the best iPhone ever, 4S is twice as fast as the iPhone 4 and delivers graphics 7 times faster. Also, you can download data twice as fast with speeds of upto 14.4 Mbps.
The dual core processor does not take much load on the battery, Apple claims that 4S can support upto 8 hours of talk time & 6 hours of browsing on 3G. Along with 14 hours of talk time on 2G and 9 hours of WiFi browsing.
3. Best iPhone has best camera?
The iPhone 4S has a new 8 MP camera which has a backside illuminated sensor, that lets you gather 73% more light per pixel than the iPhone 4, also, you can capture your favorite moments 33% faster than iPhone 4.
You can print out an 8×10 glossy photo that is “perfect”….that’s 60% more pixels than the iPhone 4′s camera. Has enlarged aperture, face detection and reduced motion blur, just like your digital cameras.
The camera now allows you to edit photos, so you can crop and rotate photos, auto-enhance them and remove a red-eye. With these new specs and features, you do not need to carry your point-and-shoot digital camera along.
4. World Phone
iPhone 4S supports both CDMA & GSM, so now you don’t need to worry about compatibility when travelling to a different country. World phone will make 4S available across more carriers (like Sprint) & countries.5. iOS 5 & iCloud
