LOU DOILLON FOR LEE COOPER

Lou Doillon, the daughter of Jane Birkin (for whom the Hermes Birkin Bag is named) has been designing a collaborative collection for Lee Cooper for the past three seasons now. Have you seen it?
Speckled with great basics and some adorable denim pieces, Doillon's eye for offbeat style is leading her right into fashion's hall of fame, and helping her own up to that family history.
"I was lucky to have a proposition from Lee Cooper, so I went with it, and now I'm doing the best I can. I hate buying jeans, so I was excited to make some I'd actually want to wear. And Lee Cooper and I go back a long way, my mum did some hilarious, ultra-sexy ads for them in the '80s. Plus, I like working with denim because jeans were made for very practical reasons, and that's very much in keeping with my attitude toward dressing," said Doillon of the first collection last season.
The collections have been markedly androgynous with drops of femininity speckled throughout, seen in the slight bell flares, the model's curling Farrah-Fawcett-esque layers or their platform heel. All in all, however, the clothes rival back and forth between posh and preppy to something like the artful dodger. In fact, although Doillon proclaims that she meant to start out modestly, her exact inspiration for the 60-piece per season collection did actually come straight from "Oliver Twist" himself.
With high waist jeans, waist coats and tops named for her sister, "Charlotte" (Gainsbourgh, yep), the price points are not bad, and have even been slashed for Spring Sales. Check it out at the only place you buy it online: www.leecooper.com/lou_doillon

MALGOSIA BELA IN APRIL 09 I-D MAGAZINE EDITORIAL
Malgosia Bela poses in the i-D Magazine April 2009 spread, "Everywhere Kiss Me," wearing a variety of denim pieces including Tommy Hilfiger Jeans, a Levi's Jean Jacket, Guess denim shorts, and pink Ksubi jeans. In my opinion the photographer, Katja Rahlwes, did a great job on capturing the 80's vibe they were going for. This would have been very cutesy for PlayBoy, perhaps? You'll see what I mean after the jump.Continued with some NSFW images after the jump.
